Driving the Parkway is an abstract analog experience that invites viewers to parse through my memories of driving down the Blue Ridge Parkway. The exterior vellum sleeve uses collaged archival images to represent the road and landscape, the tray itself acts as the car interior, and the artifacts within the tray each symbolize a sensory element of the remembered experience. The five sensory memories represented are: the breeze rushing through the windows, the way your body sways as your wrap around the curves of road, the fresh, earthy smell of dew, the swathes of blue and green as the mountains run into the earth, and the sound of crickets and cicadas.
